- 3 one-half sheets of grey pastel paper (Canson Pastel Paper)
- Dark-Brown Pastel Paper
- 12” ruler
- Razor blades
- Dark brown pastel pencil
- 1 - #229 Black Hard NuPastel stick
- 1 - #353 Cordovan Hard NuPastel stick
- 1 #211 White NuPastel Stick
- Two or three drawing boards
- ¼” by 16 x 20 foam boards
- Masking Tape – 3/4 “or ½” wide
- One “design” kneaded eraser
- Hairspray
- Paper Stump
- Paper Towels
Advanced students who wish to paint portraits in color can paint in pastel or oil.

Oil Option:
- 3 stretched Canvases (14” x 18” or 16” x 20”)
Paints:
- Cadmium Yellow Lt.
- Yellow Ochre
- Cobalt/Ultramarine Blue
- Yellow Medium
- Burnt Sienna
- Cadmium Orange
- White (large tube)
- Cadmium Red Lt.
- Cadmium Red Med.
- Alizarin Crimson
- Perm. Green Lt.
- Sap Green
- Thalo Blue
- Cobalt Violet
- Burnt Umber
- Thalo Yellow Green
- Thalo Green
Brushes:
- Filberts #3, 5, 7, 9, 11 (or similar)
- Script Liner #3 or 4
Palette: Important
- Put a 16” x 20” Glass Sheet over a 16” x 20” sheet of Med. Gray Paper over a sheet of pasteboard or masonite and sandwich them together with tape.
Pastel Option:
- 4 ½ sheets of Pastel or Pastel Sand Paper
- Colors: #545 Dark Grey, #501 Tobacco, etc.
- 2 Drawing Boards 1/4” by 16” x 20” Foam or other board
- NuPastel 96 pies set, sharpened each with a razor blade
- Rembrandt 225 peach or 90 piece starter set
- Dark brown pastel pencil or charcoal sticks
